Dagan African Market hosted a ribbon cutting as a new member of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce. Owner, Adolph Dagan, said he opened the store because he and others in Clarksville used to have to travel to Nashville to buy African food.
Dagan is a veteran who got out of the Army in 2009 after being stationed at Fort Campbell. He wanted to open a store but said the African community was not that big at the time. He added that he went back to school to start teaching, but the dream was still there.
This year dream became reality and he was able to open the market.
Along with the market, Dagan also teaches French at Rossview High School.
The store has a large selection of authentic African, Caribbean and International foods along with African clothing, artwork, health and beauty aids, jewelry, essential oils and many other items.
The Dagan African Market is located at 1681 Fort Campbell Blvd. Suite D.
The market is open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and they are closed on Sunday.
